The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Kornel Morawiecki (* 1941  †︎ 2019)

• Pochodzi z Warszawy, studiował we Wrocławiu

• W 1968 r. uczestniczył w fali protestów studenckich i został współorganizatorem demonstracji przeciwko interwencji wojsk Układu Warszawskiego w Czechosłowacji

• W latach siedemdziesiątych został redaktorem czasopisma opozycyjnego „Biuletyn Dolnośląski”

• W czerwcu 1979 r. roku witał papieża Jana Pawła II biało-czerwonym transparentem z napisem „Wiara i Niepodległość”

• W 1982 r. założył organizację „Solidarność Walcząca”

• Ukrywał się do 1987 r., kiedy został zatrzymany przez Służbę Bezpieczeństwa i deportowany

• Był przeciwnikiem obrad Okrągłego Stołu

• Aktualnie jest redaktorem naczelnym dwutygodnika „Prawda jest ciekawa - Gazeta Obywatelska”
