An embroidered handkerchief and hairnet – the prisoners used every single leftover cloth clipping, thread, or fibre to make useful items or souvenirs. These are now precious mementos imbued with the lives of their creators.

Presents that the witness and her brother could send to their mother as children

At the base of Hus Monument in Old Town Square on 17 May 1945 (first row, third from the right). The people are waving to the returned legionaries, who were marching by during a celebratory parade. A salutation from the Kalivoda family, who regularly sent the witness’s mother in prison the monthly allowance of 2 kg of food for four years. This was done by other people from Svatobořice as well.
