Dagmar Krausová was born on 17 October 1957 into a working-class family. Her mother was a crane operator, her father worked as an aerospace armourer. After her studies, she worked as a leisure educator, a field that in the 1970s and 1980s was significantly influenced by the cultural and ideological demands of the time. She founded the dance group Smog, with which she performed at competitions throughout Czechoslovakia; the final round, which the group was to participate in, fell on 17 November 1989 and was ultimately not held due to the events of the Velvet Revolution. After 1989, her position was abolished, reflecting wider changes in education after the fall of the regime. She decided to study art therapy, which was just emerging in the Czech environment in the 1990s. She was involved in both art work with clients and projects aimed at adapting the environment of psychiatric institutions. Later, art therapy also helped her in her personal life, for example with health problems related to Lyme disease. Today (2025) she is still involved in it, although to a lesser extent. In 2025 she lived in Pilsen.
