Tomáš Hudec was born on 8 July 1954 in Pilsen, where he spent his childhood and school years. He developed a strong relationship with literature from a young age; reading was also a way of coping with the times. After graduating from high school, he briefly studied technical college, but after a cadre worker read him denunciatory statements made by his classmates about him, he dropped out. This experience and the atmosphere of distrust affected him greatly. Eventually he graduated from the secondary school in Prague as a librarian and worked in the library in the early 1970s, later as a night watchman. For a number of years he was also a technician on archaeological excavations in Pilsen. In the 1990s, he began working with the literary editorial office of Czech Radio Pilsen and exhibited his prints at the U Bílého jednorožce gallery. He published a collection of poetry, Texts, and since 1997 he has been the editor-in-chief of the cultural review Pěší zóna. In 2016, he was dramaturgically involved in the creation of the film I, Olga Hepnarová. His life and professional career are firmly connected with the cultural environment of Pilsen. In 2025 he lived in Pilsen.
