The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Jiří Veselý (* 1938)

• narozen 7. srpna 1938 v Brně

• stal se členem Církve adventistů sedmého dne

• vystudoval střední průmyslovou školu strojní

• protože se hlásil ke své víře během základní vojenské služby, byl odsouzen k roku vězení

• z vězení se dostal v roce 1958, poté musel dva roky vojnu dosloužit u pomocných technických praporů

• pracoval jako kontrolor hasicích přístrojů

• v Církvi adventistů sedmého dne působil od konce 60. let jako kazatel

• stal se vedoucím sdružení, pod které spadaly všechny sbory Církve adventistů sedmého dne na Moravě

• kvůli své práci v církvi měl za socialismu problémy s StB
