The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

David Dydek (* 1956)

• narozen 2. září 1956 v Praze

• matka kunsthistorička, po roce 1948 propuštěna z univerzity kvůli buržoaznímu původu, otec malíř, člen skupin Štursa a Máj 57

• zažil srpnovou okupaci 1968 jako žák základní školy

• v roce 1969 rodina emigrovala do Itálie, rodiče v nepřítomnosti odsouzeni ke 2,5 roku vězení a propadnutí majetku

• pobývali v utečeneckém táboře u Terstu, poté se usadili poblíž Lago di Garda

• dokončil základní vzdělání v Itálii, studoval architekturu v Benátkách

• zažil ideologicky konfliktní atmosféru benátského bienále 1977

• po roce 1989 uspořádal otci výstavu v ČR, uskutečnila se v létě 2005 v Mikulově
