Let’s value freedom
Radomír Vítek was born on the 16th of July 1961 along with his twin brother. Their father was a manual worker and their mother was a kindergarten principal. Being interested in chemistry, he graduated from an industrial chemistry school but did not manage to finish his studies at a university in Pardubice. After this journey he worked in construction in Prague. One of the people he met there was the journalist Jan Lopatka who introduced him to the dissent groups of Zlín. He maintained contact with them and by the end of 1987 he proved his disgust with the regime by signing Charter 77. He also participated in many manifestation events at the end of the 1980s - including the brutally suppressed Candle Manifestation in Bratislava. Following the Velvet Revolution he started working with physically and mentally disabled people and as a coach he even participated in the Sydney Paralympic Games. He lives with his girlfriend in Zlín. His hobbies include mainly sports, gardening, and trips to the nature.
