Greetings from Kraslice, postcard from before the First World War

The Dean's Church of the Corpus Christi has been the pride of Kraslice since 1896, when this pseudo-Romanesque basilica was completed.

Since 1912, 28 October Square has been decorated with a monument to the town's patron saint, Knight Richard von Dotzauer. Behind it stands the town hall, built in 1922.

In the garden, under a gnarled tree, there is a relief of King David, the patron saint of musicians, with whom Kraslice has been inextricably linked for centuries.

Some of the houses in the centre of Kraslice looked as beautiful in 2024 as they did during the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the First Republic, when the majority of Germans lived in the town.

Kraslice as a city of contrasts. The pseudo-Romanesque basilica illustrates the wealth of the Austro-Hungarian era, the socialist housing estates declined after 1989, when large factories in Kraslice disappeared and free apartments were exploited by poverty merchants.
