Ssergej Machonin (*1918) was gifted with language skills. He learned German in a concentration camp. He translated from Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Bulgarian, German, French a many other languages.

Sergej's studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University were interrupted by war. In 1939 he was taken to a concentration camp in Sachsenhausen.

Sergej Machonin (1918-1995)

Sergej Machonin (*1918) was born in Moscow. Apart from his translation work he was also a literary and theatre critic.
