The propaganda film The King of Šumava and Kalčík's book of the same name were also inspired by the story of Josef Hasil. However, the negative character must not be an SNB (National Security Corps - transl.) member in this case.

He tried to get his fiancée Maria Vávrová, who was pregnant with Hasil's son Josef, into the free world several times. However, she repeatedly refused to leave.

Prisoner Josef Hasil: at the end of 1948 he was sentenced to nine years for the crime of conspiracy against the Republic by the notorious judge Karel Vaš, who was co-responsible for the judicial murder of General Heliodor Píka.
