Liberation of Western Bohemia by the U.S. Army in 1945
The project „Liberation of Western Bohemia by the U.S. Army in 1945“ is created during the year 2013 under the financial support from the Embassy of the United States in Prague. The project is focused on witnesses of the end of WWII, both from the Czech side and memories of the American soldiers, who actively participated on the liberation processes. Those WWII veterans, together with Czech witnesses who were then mostly little children, remeber the moments of the arrival of the U.S. Army to Pilsen, first encounter of two different cultures and common fight against the last Nazis. Not only 6 May 1945 is being mentioned by the witnesses, regarding the events which led to the long hoped-for end of Nazi supremacy.
