Břetislav Krista was born on March 28, 1943, and grew up in rural western Bohemia. In 1945, his family hid two German women who had escaped from a death march. From childhood, he helped on the farm and later in the unified agricultural cooperative (JZD). After completing his apprenticeship, he joined the JZD and became a combine harvester operator. Even during his basic military service, he was assigned to agricultural machinery due to his experience with mechanization. After returning, he continued to work for the cooperative and also devoted himself to beekeeping for many years. In 2025, he lived in Mezí.
