Eduard Kraus was born on 18 December 1935 in Drahoňův Újezd in the area of Rokycany as a second son of Antonín and Antonie Kraus. In 1938, his father was mobilized to Sudeten to the area of Podbořany and Lubenec. After the end of WWII, when he was 11 years old, his family moved to borderlands because of Edvard Beneš´s appeal; they moved to the area of Podbořany and they settled in Nepomyšl. Having finished the town school, the witness studied first school education at Pedagogical Grammar School for in Karlovy Vary. Before his twentieth birthday he got a mandatory placement in Vroutek where he spent only two months teaching and then received a draft order for military service. He later taught in Mukoděly, Podbořanský Rohozec and finally in Lubenec. He taught in Lubenec from 1965 to 2002 and he then retired, he was a headmaster of the school until 1990. He was living in Lubenec at the time of recording (2016).
