I was just going to school when František Šešulka was taken away by a German guard

Václav Janda was born on May 8, 1938 in Krucemburk. As a child, he observed was events taking place in his hometown. In 1945, during a Nazi raid against guerrillas and their aides in Krucemburk, he witnessed the arrest of František Šešulka, who died as a result of brutal interrogations. After studying at the Higher Pedagogical School in Brno, the witness became a teacher. He taught at several schools, for example in Slavíkov and Ždírec nad Doubravou. He joined the school in Krucemburk in 1976, where he was first deputy headmaster and from 1990 until retirement headmaster. He was very interested in the history of Krucemburk, from 1976 to 2009 he wrote a municipal chronicle. He was very interested in photography and meteorology. He has given many lectures and discussions for students and locals. He was a founding member of the Association of Friends of Krucemburk. He died on August 5, 2019.
