The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Svatava Vynal (* 1930)

Cooperation must be mutually beneficial

  • born in 1930 in Prague

  • her great-aunt was Hana Benešová, the wife of president Edvard Beneš

  • her father was Josef Pisinger, during the WW II a member of the resistance organization Obrana národa, imprisoned in the 1950s

  • her mother Marie Pisingerová was a writer and an actress in E. F. Burian’s theater

  • lived through the shelling of Prague during WW II

  • emigrated in 1948, found employment in Nuremberg

  • lived in Paris in YWCA, married František Vyhnal

  • studied in Paris (Ecole nationale d’administration), the Hague and Saint-Étienne

  • was employed in Joseph Bancroft and Sons Company

  • later lived in Milan as an entrepreneur, also working for the Bayer company for two years

  • worked in the consulting firm Czergos

  • established her own firm Vynal snc., Marketing, Promotion, Press

  • among her clients and colleagues were Mary Quant, Shiela Scotter, Milan Daněk, Liben Torres

  • was active in Teatro alla Scala, DMI – German Fashion Institute, ICE – Italian Commercial Center, Bohemia Nostra, Karlín Musical Theatre

  • was sent by the Latin Union to Peru and Bolivia to provide consultancy in issues related to the organization of exhibitions of products, fairs and their promotion

  • test driver for Alfa Romeo

  • organized and presented at exhibitions and fairs in Brno, Bologna, Perugia, Vicenza, Udine, Milan

  • collaborated with companies such as Bayer, Indian Head (former Bancroft and Sons Comp.), Marzotto, Faliero Sarti, Grignasco etc.

  • was friends with Karel Kryl, Oscar Ghidini, Paolo Lampini, Naondo Nakamura, Gio Ponti, Pier Luigi Nervi, Don Lurio, Vladimír Dvořák, Ladislav Vachulka, Miroslav Klement, Maria Pia Carola, Luigi DiFronzo, Ladislav Dydek, Arsén Pohribny

  • collaborated with Divadlo Husa na provázku, helped with the production of Milan Uhde’s plays

  • regularly published among others in: ZOOM, Moda Revue, Sports ware, International textiles, Mladá fronta Dnes, Hospodářské noviny
