The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Jiří Větrovský (* 1954)

• narozen 10. března 1954 v Mariánských Lázních, od šesti let žije v Plzni

• jako čtrnáctiletý zažil okupaci vojsky Varšavské smlouvy a následné protesty v Plzni

• na střední škole se zařadil mezi nepřátele režimu mimo jiné tím, že nosil dlouhé vlasy

• dva roky studoval v Praze, kde ho formovalo setkávání s legendami undergroundu

• přes vážné zranění páteře byl odveden na vojnu

• po návratu z vojny založil undergroundovou kapelu The Úžas, později The Suřík

• koncert kapely přerušil brutální zásah VB, následovala vlna výslechů a šikany

• na začátku roku 1989 založil loutkohereckou skupinu HROB

• v roce 2006 založil kapelu burgtheater
