The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Jarmila Stibicová (* 1933  †︎ 2025)

• narodila se 14. srpna 1933 v Turkovicích na Pardubicku

• vystudovala češtinu, ruštinu a angličtinu na FF UK

• do roku 1970 profesorka na chemické průmyslovce v Pardubicích

• 1969 - odsouzena za rozšiřování letáků k výročí 21. srpna 1968 na šest měsíců s podmínečným odkladem na dva roky

• 1977 - podpis Charty 77

• do roku 1989 se živila jako uklízečka a soukromou výukou angličtiny

• kromě Charty 77 se zapojila do Demokratické iniciativy a Iniciativy sociální obrany

• od 1990 vyučovala na gymnáziu a konzervatoři v Pardubicích

• spolupracuje s organizací Amnesty International

• počátkem 90. let se angažovala v Občanském fóru a Občanském hnutí v komunální politice

• vedla personální rekonstrukci pardubické věznice

• stála u vzniku městské policie

• zemřela 2. června 2025
