The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Evžen Seidel (* 1928  †︎ 2017)

• narozen 28. října 1928 v Černčicích u Loun

• po válce vystudoval geologii

• po únorovém komunistickém puči v roce 1948 se zapojil do odbojové skupiny MAPAŽ 5 napojené na CIC

• v roce 1949 byla skupina prozrazena, v červenci zatčen a tři měsíce krutě vyšetřován na StB v Ústí nad Labem, poté přemístěn do litoměřické věznice

• 22. října 1949 monstrproces s 23 členy skupiny, dostal trest 20 let vězení

• po odsouzení putoval do věznice Bory v Plzni, poté přemístěn na uranové lágry, nejprve na tábor Prokop, později na Rovnost, kde pracoval jako geolog

• propuštěn při květnové amnestii v roce 1960
