The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Anna Magdalena Schwarzová (* 1921  †︎ 2017)

• narozena 14. března 1921 v Praze

• židovští konvertité ke katolictví

• od roku 1939 postulantkou v jiřetínském klášteře

• během války v Terezíně, odkud roku 1945 utekla

• po válce studia angličtiny a francouzštiny na UK v Praze

• po únoru 1948 studium znemožněno, pracovala jako korespondentka a referentka

• roku 1953 zatčena, roku 1954 odsouzena za protistátní náboženskou činnost

• vězněna v Pardubicích

• propuštěna až na amnestii v roce 1960

• poté dělnické profese, tlumočení v Českém Krumlově

• od roku 1968 překladatelkou na VŠ zemědělské v Praze

• aktivně se angažovala v Chartě 77 či VONS

• v srpnu 1980 složila věčné sliby do kláštera bosých karmelitánek v Krakově

• zemřela 2. ledna 2017
