The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Jan Petrucha (* 1924  †︎ 2022)

• narodil se 22. června 1924 v Hroznové Lhotě

• 1943 – měl být nasazen na práci v Německu, musel přerušit studium gymnázia a hospodařil doma

• 1945 – byl zraněn při přechodu fronty, přesto v létě odmaturoval a nastoupil na filozofickou fakultu

• 1948 – spolu s dalšími studenty fakulty čelil nátlaku ke vstupu do komunistické strany

• 1949 – v únoru byl zatčen za protistátní činnost a uvězněn

• v červnu téhož roku byl odsouzen na tři roky a převezen do uranových dolů v Jáchymově

• 1952 – byl propuštěn z vězení a začal pracovat v dole v Šardicích

• poté nastoupil vojenskou službu beze zbraně v PTP

• v roce 1957 se oženil, s manželkou Marií vychovali třináct dětí

• zemřel 1. března 2022
