The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Josef Havlát (* 1933  †︎ 2019)

• narozen 27. ledna 1933 ve Vidoníně u Velké Bíteše

• po maturitě odešel pracovat do brněnské Zbrojovky

• v roce 1953 narukoval na vojnu

• po návratu začal studovat teologickou fakultu v Litoměřiccích

• v roce 1957 zatčen Státní bezpečností a vzat do vazby v Uherském Hradišti

• odsouzen na 14 měsíců, dostal zákaz teologických studií

• vězněn ve Valdicích a v Teplé u Mariánských Lázní

• po propuštění pracoval v Královopolských strojírnách

• po roce 1989 se stal členem KPV, dostudoval teologii a jako jáhen se zapojil do církevního života

• oceněn jako účastník protikomunistického odboje

• zemřel 29. června 2019
