The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Martin Hassa (* 1968)

• narozen 17. ledna 1968 v dělnické rodině v Prostějově

• vyrůstal v Chropyni, odešel z učení, pracoval v dělnických profesích

• šířil samizdat a petice za propuštění politických vězňů a náboženskou svobodu

• v 18 letech podepsal Chartu 77

• byl členem Společnosti přátel USA a Nezávislého mírového sdružení

• pravidelně vyslýchán a zadržován StB

• odsouzen za šíření nelegálních tiskovin a manifestu Několik vět

• v listopadu 1989 se zapojil do činnosti kroměřížského Občanského fóra

• pracoval jako manažer OF a poté ODS v Kroměříži

• žije v Kroměříži, podniká ve stavebnictví
