The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Vladimír Buryan (* 1929  †︎ 2017)

• narozen 16. února 1929 v Brně

• po válce v Brně zažil vyhánění Němců a drancování i znásilňování žen vojáky Rudé armády

• v roce 1947 se spolupodílel na založení protikomunisticky orientovaného Svazu středoškolského studentstva

• v květnu 1948 odmaturoval, ale dál už studovat nesměl

• v Pohořelicích s kamarády založili protistátní skupinu

• 23. září 1949 byl zatčen a převezen do vazby v Orlí ulici

• v Brně 4. května 1951 odsouzen na tři roky

• trest si odpykal v dole Dukla v Oslavanech a na Jáchymovsku, kde prošel tábory Barbora a Vykmanov

• propuštěn 23. září 1952

• ve volném čase se věnoval lidovému a společenskému tanci, v roce 1968 založil v Brně taneční školu Starlet, působil jako choreograf v Československé televizi

• zemřel 8. července 2017
