The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Miloš Blažek (* 1926  †︎ 2019)

No regime can ban personal friendship.

  • born 7th May 1926

  • 1937

  • , member of the Scout organisation Legio Angelica

  • took his Scout Promise shortly before the signing of the Munich Agreement

  • during the Prague Revolt, worked in charity

  • after the war, leader of the 318th Scout Troop, co-founder of the Ecumenical Forestry School

  • completed studies of History and Geography at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and became a teacher

  • 1959, arrested for propagating the Scouting ideal, accused (among other things) of owning a picture of Hitler, sentenced to 4.5 years of prison

  • 1960, released due to an amnesty of the President of the Republic

  • 2003, received the highest Scout honour - The Order of the Silver Wolf

  • still active in the Scout Movement
