The following text is not a historical study. It is a retelling of the witness’s life story based on the memories recorded in the interview. The story was processed by external collaborators of the Memory of Nations. In some cases, the short biography draws on documents made available by the Security Forces Archives, State District Archives, National Archives, or other institutions. These are used merely to complement the witness’s testimony. The referenced pages of such files are saved in the Documents section.

Miloslav Bláha (* 1927  †︎ 2022)

The communist idea is at its core biblical, but the way the communists wanted to fulfill it was evil

  • was born on June 1, 1927 in Svitávka in Blansko district

  • his parents were Adventists, he was baptized as an Adventist in 1946

  • in 1942–1944 he graduated from a two-year business school, then he worked within the field

  • he graduated from the School of Biblical Studies in 1950 and then worked as a preacher in Hradec Králové

  • in 1951 he resigned from his position under the pressure and went to work in Tesla

  • in 1952 he enlisted in the war for the Technical auxiliary battalion, into the so-called parish company

  • he was twice brought in front of a military court for refusing to go to work on Saturday

  • in 1953 he was released after four months on amnesty

  • he was sentenced the same year again, this time to a six-year sentence in the Jáchymov mines and in Mírov

  • after three and a half years, he was released in 1956

  • he worked in the labor professions, then he returned to preaching in 1968

  • in 1970–1983 he was the secretary of the Czech Seventh-day Adventist Association

  • died on December, 12th, 2022
