  • born on 3 March 1947 in Prague
  • as a military conscript witnessed the invasion of the Warsaw Pact armies on 21 August 1968
  • worked in computer production and as a programmer
  • attended house seminars
  • had close relations with the founders of Charter 77
  • signed Charter 77
  • worked as a teacher in Jedlička’s Institute for the Disabled
  • in 1989 became a member of the Civic Forum
  • after the revolution elected one of Civic Forum’s leaders
  • in 1991-1992 head of the Office of the Government
  • in the 1990s director of the Civil Pension Fund
  • served as a deputy and a major of Roztoky u Prahy
  • founded Kepler’s Museum in Prague
